about

assume vivid astro focus is the pseudonym given to a unique group of international visual and performance based artists. A mix of abstract and figurative forms, the murals, wall installations, and environments created by assume vivid astro focus consist of fluid, brightly colored overlapping shapes and images that stimulate a sensation of immediacy and immersion into a highly conceptual sensorial environment. The work represented iconic characters, fictive narratives, and personal symbols while drawing on historical, social, and political issues in a charged commentary on the complexity and pace of life in the 21st century. This exhibition featured a high voltage site-specific 85-foot mural installation wrapping half of the 3,000 square foot Lewis Gallery at MOCA’s space at 8501 Carnegie Avenue. "Ilegitimo" was curated by Margo A. Crutchfield. This exhibition was generously underwritten by American Greetings.
